FAQ
Q1. Can I join the competition without prior programming experience?
A. The competition is for everyone. Prior technology experience or programming prerequisites are not required for participating in the hackathon. However, at least one member in the team with programming experiences is strongly recommended. We suggest each team include members who have diverse backgrounds and skills such as programming, design, marketing, management, or even storytelling capabilities.
Q2. How can I find my team members?
A. Current students from NYCU, NCU, NCCY, NTHU and NTU, NTNU and NUTST are welcome to join the competition. Each team must have at least 1 overseas student (including international, Mainland Chinese and Overseas Chinese students).
Q3. Would I be offered an internship opportunity if I win 1st-3rd place?
A. Students will be given priority to be interviewed for LINE TECH FRESH internship program.
Q4. Can I get extra benefits once I join the competition?
A. In addition to cash prize and internship opportunities, participants will be considered favorably when they apply for OIA’s outbound student mobility programs and scholarships.
Q5. When will you provide the topic of the competition?
A. The topic has already been announced on our official website: “How to use Open Data combined with LINE Bot to improve medical and health care.” Students can elaborate on this topic freely without further limitation.
Q6. Who is the judge of the competition?
A. The judges will be experts from LINE Corp. and DeepQ (an AI healthcare project under HTC Corp.).
Q7. The total number of admitted teams will only be 10 teams. Is the selection of teams on a first-come-first-served basis?
A. Due to the space limitation of the competition venue, we are only able to accommodate up to 10 teams. However, if more than 10 teams registered for the competition, the judges will then review the proposal and select only 10 teams based on the motivation and diversity of the team members.
Q8. Shall we present the completed application software or website at the closing ceremony? Do we need to add extra functions on the LINE App? Can the result be a concept only?
A. Each team will demonstrate and present their work in the closing ceremony without limitation in format.
Q9. Shall we use LINE Chatbot only? Or can we use other kinds of tools?
A. LINE Corp. will provide the official training for the chatbot and provide API. However, you may combine other elements, but we hope LINE Chatbot can be included into the final result.
Q10. Consider the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing, is it going to affect the competition?
A. The initial plan of the competition was to be conducted at a physical venue. However, we will continue to monitor the epidemic development and comply with the latest policies announced by the government. We will decide whether the competition will be conducted fully online or not by mid-June. Please pay close attention to updates on this page and our fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/NCTUOIA/
